Welcome to the National Women's Hockey League-MeiGray Group Game-Worn Jersey Authentication Program's Inaugural Game-Worn Jersey Auction.
The NWHL, now in its second season, is the first professional women's hockey league in North America to pay its players. The Inaugural season began on October 11, 2015 and ended with the Boston Pride raising the first Isobel Cup on March 12, 2016.
MeiGray, named the Official Game-Worn Jersey Source for the National Women's Hockey League, will throughout the 2016-17 season will be offering game-worn jerseys from all four NWHL clubs: Boston Pride, Buffalo Beauts, Connecticut Whale and New York Riveters.
The NWHL-MeiGray Group Game-Worn Jersey Authentication Program is proud to offer fans and collectors across the globe the opportunity to own a piece of history ... an actual jersey worn by #27 Shiann Darkangelo of the Buffalo Beauts during the 2016-2017 National Women's Hockey League preseason.
Darkangelo tallied 13 points in 13 games last season for the Connecticut Whale and helped Team USA to the gold medal at the 2016 IIHF World Championships. She played college hockey at Syracuse University for two seasons before transferring to Quinnipiac University to finish her college career.
This Blue jersey, a Size 48, is registered into the MeiGray Group Game-Worn Jersey Authentication Program as number MGG010251. Each jersey has the player's native country flag on the left sleeve.
The NWHL-MGG Auction season is kicking off with one complete set of game-worn jerseys from each of the four clubs, worn exclusively during the 2016-17 NWHL preseason.
The Beauts were the league's first upset-minded squad as they finished with a pedestrian 5-9-4 regular-season record. Led by Kelley Steadman (13 goals and seven assists in 13 games), they posted two four-goal performances against the Connecticut Whale to advance to the finals, where they were swept by the Boston Pride. Team U.S.A. hockey captain Meghan Duggan and six-time Women's Hockey World Championships gold medal was also a key part of the run to the finals, scoring six goals with ten assists during the regular season.
MGG also works with eight National Hockey League clubs: Boston Bruins, Columbus Blue Jackets, Dallas Stars, Edmonton Oilers, Nashville Predators, New Jersey Devils, Philadelphia Flyers and Washington Capitals.
