Welcome to USA Hockey-MeiGray Group's 2017 International Ice Hockey Federation World Championship Team USA Jersey Auction.
The 2017 IIHF World Championships was held in Germany from May 5, 2017 through May 21, 2017. The United States Men's National team finished fifth after falling to Finland in the Quarterfinals, 2-0.
Team USA's tournament was highlighted by six straight wins in the preliminary round after a tournament-opening loss to host country Germany. The six wins in a row in the Men’s World Championship, which has been done only one other time in U.S. history (1990), included victories over Sweden and Russia and resulted in Team USA winning Group A. Johnny Gaudreau, Dylan Larkin and Anders Lee were named Team USA's top three players of the tournament.
The USA Hockey-MeiGray Group Game-Worn Authentication Program is proud to offer fans and collectors across the globe the opportunity to own a piece of history ... the one set of navy jerseys worn during the tournament by Team USA. This set of jerseys was worn by Team USA in two Preliminary Round Games.
This auction is for the actual navy jersey worn by #37 Connor Hellebuyck.
Hellebuyck served as the back-up goaltender in both games in which the U.S. team wore navy: May 5 vs. Germany, and May 10 vs. Italy. He currently plays for the Winnipeg Jets.
This jersey, a Size 58G, has been registered in the USA Hockey-MeiGray Game-Worn Authentication Program as number USA02340.
One set of 25 navy jerseys was manufactured by Nike and prepared for use by the U.S. National Men's Team in the 2017 IIHF World Championship. Each jersey was barcoded before the tournament. The set of jerseys was collected after each game by Team USA's equipment staff. Each jersey offered in auction has been security-tagged with an individually serial-numbered USA Hockey-MeiGray Authentication Program inventory tag.
The U.S. Men's National Team wore this set of navy jerseys in two games:
*May 5, 2017 – 2-1 loss to Germany in the Preliminary Round – Cologne, Germany
*May 10, 2016 – 3-0 win over Italy in the Preliminary Round – Cologne, Germany
Proceeds will benefit the USA Hockey Foundation.
