On March 17 2022, Claude Giroux skated in his 1,000th NHL game. He joined Bobby Clarke as the only Flyers to play 1,000 games with the organization. Each Flyer honored their captain in the pre-game warmup by wearing #28 GIROUX on his jersey.
The Flyers defeated the Nashville Predators 5-4 at Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia.
Giroux made his NHL debut on February 19, 2008 vs the Ottawa Senators. During Giroux’s 1,000 games with the Flyers: He was named the 19th captain in team history in January 2013, he reached the Stanley Cup Final in 2010, he was a seven-time All-Star, All-Star Game MVP, and currently is second on the Flyers’ all-time scoring list. Giroux scored 291 goals with 609 assists in his first 1,000 games in the National Hockey League.
