The six PWHL teams descended upon Utica, NY's Nexus Center for four days of exhibition games, with each team playing three games. MeiGray staff was in attendance to authenticate when these jerseys were worn, and to take them straight off the ice. Lee Stecklein wore this white jersey while playing for PWHL Minnesota during the inaugural PWHL Player Evaluation Camp.
PWHL Minnesota played three games during the Evaluation Camp, defeating Ottawa 9-4 on December 4, earning a regulation win over Toronto that finished 5-5 after the shootout on December 5, and defeating Montreal 4-3 on December 7.
Stecklein was wearing this jersey when she earned two points on December 5, 2023 against PWHL Toronto at the Nexus Center in Utica, NY. Her first goal of the week came when she accepted a drop pass from Brittyn Fleming at the blue line and lasered a shot over the shoulder of Toronto goaltender Erica Howe. It hit the back of the net hard enough to pop the goalie's water bottle. In the third period, Stecklein released the same heavy shot from the same spot, this time receiving assistance in the form of a tip from Taylor Heise to reach the back of the net. Stecklein was named the Second Star of the Game for her performance.
One of PWHL Minnesota's initial three players signed to a contract prior to the inaugural draft, Minnesota native Stecklein has been a champion at every level. She owns a gold medal from the 2011 IIHF U18 World Championship, from the 2018 Olympic Games in Pyeongchang, and six gold medals from IIHF World Championships. She won three NCAA titles with the University of Minnesota, an Isobel Cup with the Minnesota Whitecaps, and, most recently, a Secret Cup with Team Harvey's of the PWHPA in 2023, when she was also named Defender of the Year.
Every jersey worn by each of these participating MeiGray Game-Worn Jersey Authentication Program clubs contains a uniquely numbered inventory tag sewn into the jersey BEFORE IT IS WORN BY THE PLAYER ON THE ICE. This tag is equipped with covert security features regularly checked by MGG Program Directors so we can tell who wore the jersey, and when.
