Welcome to the Inaugural Professional Women's Hockey League Evaluation Camp-Worn Jersey Auction.
The PWHL-MeiGray Game-Worn Jersey Authentication Program is proud to offer fans and collectors across the globe the opportunity to own a piece of history ... the jersey worn by #22 Taylor Heise of the PWHL Minnesota during the inaugural PWHL Player Evaluation Camp.
The six PWHL teams descended upon Utica, NY's Nexus Center for four days of exhibition games, with each team playing three games. MeiGray staff was in attendance to authenticate when these jerseys were worn, and to take them straight off the ice. Now, you can add a piece of this historic event to your collection - or start your collection!
Taylor Heise wore this white jersey while playing for PWHL Minnesota during the inaugural PWHL Player Evaluation Camp.
PWHL Minnesota played three games during the Evaluation Camp, defeating Ottawa 9-4 on December 4, earning a regulation win over Toronto that finished 5-5 after the shootout on December 5, and defeating Montreal 4-3 on December 7.
Heise was wearing this jersey when she scored Minnesota's first goal of the preseason camp on December 4, 2023 against PWHL Ottawa at the Nexus Center in Utica, NY. She accepted a cross-slot pass from Sophia Kunin and expertly put it past the pad and glove of Ottawa goaltender Sandra Abstreiter to tie the game. Minnesota went on to earn a 9-4 victory in their first game of the week.
Heise was wearing this jersey again the next day when she scored two goals against PWHL Toronto on December 5, 2023. The first was made for the highlight reel: on the power play, Heise carried the puck across the high slot with speed and waited until one of Toronto's defenders was providing a screen before turning and ripping a near-side shot. Even after Toronto goaltender Erica Howe got a piece of the shot with her shoulder, it still hit the back of the net hard enough to bounce the goaltender's water bottle. That unassisted goal tied the game at three with a minute left in the second. Less than five minutes into the third, Heise scored her third of the week off an assist from Lee Stecklein, giving Minnesota the go-ahead. They went on to win the game of the camp in regulation by a score of 5-4. She was named the First Star of the Game for her performance.
At the close of camp, Heise’s three goals tied for Minnesota’s goal-scoring lead.
The first draft pick in PWHL history, Minnesota native Taylor Heise was the consensus first overall pick for the Minnesota franchise. The 2022 Patty Kazmaier Memorial Award winner was also named MVP at the 2022 IIHF World Championship after leading the tournament in goals, assists, and points on the way to Team USA's silver medal. The next season, serving as captain of the Golden Gophers, Heise earned another Patty Kazmaier nomination, was named the 2023 WCHA Offensive Player of the Year, and helped the US win gold at the 2023 Worlds.
Every jersey worn by each of these participating MeiGray Game-Worn Jersey Authentication Program clubs contains a uniquely numbered inventory tag sewn into the jersey BEFORE IT IS WORN BY THE PLAYER ON THE ICE. This tag is equipped with covert security features regularly checked by MGG Program Directors so we can tell who wore the jersey, and when.
