All proceeds from this auction will benefit More Than Baseball, a nonprofit dedicated to enhancing the lives and working conditions of Minor Leaguers.
Akil Baddoo wore these cleats while playing for the Detroit Tigers as a rookie during a 10-7 victory over the Minnesota Twins on September 30, 2021 at Target Field in Minneapolis, MN. The cleats are photo-matched and feature MLB Authentication holograms for the autographs on each shoe.
Baddoo went 2-for-4 with a walk in the game.
Baddoo was very productive out of the leadoff spot as a rookie for the Tigers, hitting .259 with 13 home runs, 55 RBI and a healthy .766 OPS.
These cleats, which were customized and painted by Stadium Custom Kicks, feature a mismatched Kobe Bryant-themed design in Los Angeles Lakers colors, with Bryant's "Mamba Mentality" mantra on the outside of the left shoe and Kobe's likeness on the outside of the right shoe as well as More Than Baseball's logo on the inside of each shoe.

Currently, the average Minor League baseball player earns less than the federal minimum wage, yet must locate and pay for their own housing, and receives no financial or logistical support for nutrition and equipment needs. Furthermore, as 90% of Minor League ballplayers do not reach the Major Leagues, most never receive even minimal support after their playing careers are over.
More Than Baseball offers a wide variety of resources to players including career services, financial guidance, released player support, education, scholarships and more.
