Kelly Pannek wore this white jersey while playing for PWHL Minnesota during the inaugural PWHL Player Evaluation Camp.
PWHL Minnesota played three games during the Evaluation Camp, defeating Ottawa 9-4 on December 4, earning a regulation win over Toronto that finished 5-5 after the shootout on December 5, and defeating Montreal 4-3 on December 7.
Pannek was wearing this jersey when she scored a goal during Minnesota's first game of the preseason camp on December 4, 2023 against PWHL Ottawa at the Nexus Center in Utica, NY. With only four seconds left in the second period, Pannek scored the go-ahead goal off an assist from Susanna Tapani. It was the first lead of the game for Minnesota and they didn't look back, finishing regulation with a 7-4 win. In the shootout that followed every game, Pannek was one of two players on Minnesota to convert on her chance, allowing the team to finish with a commanding 9-4 victory in their first game of the week. Pannek was named the Second Star of the Game for her performance.
Pannek wore this jersey again the next day when she assisted on the game-winning goal against PWHL Toronto. In tight to Toronto goaltender Erica Howe, Pannek released a quick shot that rebounded right in front of the crease, where Denisa Krizova swooped in to put the puck in the net. Minnesota’s fifth goal of the game, it secured the team’s regulation victory, though Toronto would later earn another ‘goal’ in the shootout.
Pannek was wearing this jersey again when she scored two goals on December 7, 2023 against PWHL Montreal. Both goals came in the first period as Pannek got herself to high-danger spots in the low slot. She opened the scoring with her first goal, a perfectly timed deflection on a cross-ice pass from Brittyn Fleming. The second goal restored Minnesota's lead as Pannek unleashed a shot from the hashmarks that went under the arm of Montreal goaltender Marlene Boissonnault. Minnesota earned their third regulation victory of the week, becoming one of only two teams to sweep the week's games.
At the close of the week, Pannek tied for the team lead in goals and points with three goals and four points.
Pannek was the first player to sign a PWHL contract for the inaugural 2023-2024 season. The Olympic gold medalist joins PWHL Minnesota with a stuffed trophy case, bringing her wealth of experience along with four World Championship medals, two Olympic medals, and two NCAA Championship titles. The former Golden Gophers captain was a finalist for the Patty Kazmaier Memorial Trophy in 2017 after leading the nation in scoring.
Every jersey worn by each of these participating MeiGray Game-Worn Jersey Authentication Program clubs contains a uniquely numbered inventory tag sewn into the jersey BEFORE IT IS WORN BY THE PLAYER ON THE ICE. This tag is equipped with covert security features regularly checked by MGG Program Directors so we can tell who wore the jersey, and when.
