All proceeds from this auction will benefit More Than Baseball, a nonprofit dedicated to enhancing the lives and working conditions of Minor Leaguers.
Brett Baty wore these cleats while playing for the National League during an 8-3 victory in the 2021 MLB Futures Game on July 11, 2021 at Coors Field in Denver, CO. The cleats are photo-matched and feature an autograph on each shoe, with MLB Authentication holograms.
Baty, currently the New York Mets' #2 prospect, made his MLB debut on August 17, 2021 against the Atlanta Braves and hit a two-run homer off of Max Fried in his first career at-bat.
Baty hit .292 with 12 homers and 56 RBIs between High-A and AA ball in 2021, and combined for 19 homers and a .315 batting average between AA and AAA ball before his first MLB call-up.
These cleats, which were customized and painted by Stadium Custom Kicks, represent New York City with a NYC skyline and the Statue of Liberty painted on each shoe, but also pay tribute to the Futures Game uniforms with a sea foam green right shoe with the More Than Baseball logo on the heel and a purple left shoe with flowers painted on.
Currently, the average Minor League baseball player earns less than the federal minimum wage, yet must locate and pay for their own housing, and receives no financial or logistical support for nutrition and equipment needs. Furthermore, as 90% of Minor League ballplayers do not reach the Major Leagues, most never receive even minimal support after their playing careers are over.
