This double-sided banner honoring Philadelphia Flyers legend #4 Barry Ashbee hung in the Wells Fargo Center rafters from 2012 to 2016. MeiGray and the Flyers are proud to bring this 14.5-foot by 9.5-foot piece to auction, and it's your chance to bid on an incredible part of Flyers history.

Proceeds from this auction benefit Flyers Charities.

Ashbee became one of the Flyers’ best defenseman soon after joining the Flyers for the 1970-71 NHL season. The Weston, Ontario native, who also played briefly for Boston in 1965-66, won the Stanley Cup in 1974 as a player, and in 1975 as an assistant coach. He was named NHL Second Team All-Star in 1974. On May 12, 1977, he passed away from a rare form of leukemia at the age of 38.

Ashbee’s #4 was retired by the Flyers on October 13, 1977.

When the Flyers created team awards to be presented to players at the end of the season, the award for the team's best defenseman was named the Barry Ashbee Trophy. Ashbee was enshrined into the Flyers Hall of Fame in 1991.
