The six PWHL teams descended upon Utica, NY's Nexus Center for four days of exhibition games, with each team playing three games. MeiGray staff was in attendance to authenticate when these jerseys were worn, and to take them straight off the ice. Aerin Frankel wore this white jersey while playing for PWHL Boston during the inaugural PWHL Player Evaluation Camp.
PWHL Boston played three games during the Evaluation Camp, losing 5-3 to Toronto on December 4, losing 3-2 to Montreal on December 5, and defeating Ottawa 3-2 on December 7.
Frankel was wearing this jersey when she backstopped Boston to their only win of the preseason on December 7, 2023 against PWHL Ottawa at the Nexus Center in Utica, NY. Frankel faced 32 shots and saved all but one of them for a .969 save percentage on the afternoon. She then made three saves in five rounds of the shootout.
One of the first three signings by PWHL Boston prior to the league's inaugural draft, Frankel returns to Massachusetts fresh off backstopping Team USA to a gold medal at the 2023 World Championship. It was her third time at the event after taking home silvers the prior two years. Frankel joined the senior national team after she won the Patty Kazmaier Memorial Award in 2021, following two seasons as a top-ten finalist. She was the winner of the inaugural Women’s National Goalie of the Year Award for the NCAA in 2021 and also took home the award in 2022.
Every jersey worn by each of these participating MeiGray Game-Worn Jersey Authentication Program clubs contains a uniquely numbered inventory tag sewn into the jersey BEFORE IT IS WORN BY THE PLAYER ON THE ICE. This tag is equipped with covert security features regularly checked by MGG Program Directors so we can tell who wore the jersey, and when.
