Welcome to the Inaugural Professional Women's Hockey League Evaluation Camp-Worn Jersey Auction.
The PWHL-MeiGray Game-Worn Jersey Authentication Program is proud to offer fans and collectors across the globe the opportunity to own a piece of history ... the jersey worn by #11 Abby Roque of the PWHL New York during the inaugural PWHL Player Evaluation Camp.
The six PWHL teams descended upon Utica, NY's Nexus Center for four days of exhibition games, with each team playing three games. MeiGray staff was in attendance to authenticate when these jerseys were worn, and to take them straight off the ice. Now, you can add a piece of this historic event to your collection - or start your collection!
Abby Roque wore this white jersey while playing for PWHL New York during the inaugural PWHL Player Evaluation Camp.
PWHL New York played three games during the Evaluation Camp, defeating PWHL Montreal, 4-0, on December 4, defeating PWHL Ottawa, 2-1, in the Fan Fest game on December 5 that was open to the public, and defeating PWHL Toronto, 6-4, on December 7.
Roque was wearing this jersey when she scored a shootout goal on December 7, 2023 against PWHL Toronto at the Nexus Center in Utica, NY. Roque was the fourth shooter for New York and the first to capitalize on her chance, stickhandling up to Toronto goaltender Kristen Campbell and sending the puck through the five-hole with a quick shot. Sarah Nurse was the only scorer for Toronto, and the shootout extended for another three rounds of sudden death before Jill Saulnier scored again for New York. With the 7-4 victory, New York became one of two teams to sweep all their games in the preseason camp.
One of the initial three players signed to a contract by New York prior to the inaugural PWHL draft, Abby Roque was the first indigenous player to compete for the United States at the Olympic Games, taking home a silver medal from Beijing in 2022. She has earned three medals at IIHF World Championships including one gold medal. In two seasons with the PWHPA, Roque won the American Secret Cup with Team adidas in 2021 and was ninth in league scoring in 2023. A former alternate captain with the University of Wisconsin, Roque won an NCAA championship with the Badgers in 2019, was a top-three finalist for the Patty Kazmaier Memorial Award in 2020, and was twice named the WCHA's Offensive Player of the Year.
Every jersey worn by each of these participating MeiGray Game-Worn Jersey Authentication Program clubs contains a uniquely numbered inventory tag sewn into the jersey BEFORE IT IS WORN BY THE PLAYER ON THE ICE. This tag is equipped with covert security features regularly checked by MGG Program Directors so we can tell who wore the jersey, and when.
