This stick has been exclusively authorized for authentication and distribution by the Connor McDavid-Edmonton Oilers-MeiGray Group Game-Used Equipment Program, designed to protect the integrity of the dynamic NHL superstar's game-used items.
This stick has been registered with hologram number MGA005640. The hologram has been affixed to the stick.
McDavid won the 2016-17 Art Ross Trophy with 100 points, including an NHL-leading 70 assists. Having turned 20 years old in January, only Sidney Crosby at age 19 (2007) and Wayne Gretzky (13 days younger) at age 20 (1981) were younger Art Ross Trophy winners.
At 19 years and 266 days old, the Oilers entrusted their leadership to the Richmond Hill, Ontario, native whom they selected first overall in the 2015 NHL Entry Draft, making him the youngest captain in National Hockey League history on October 5, 2016.
McDavid did not disappoint. The Oilers clinched their first Stanley Cup playoff berth since 2006 on March 27, 2017, and on June 21, 2017, McDavid was announced as the winner of the 2017 Hart Trophy as NHL Most Valuable Player.
McDavid burst onto the international hockey scene in 2013, when he played for the Canadian U18s at the IIHF World Championships. He scored a goal and added two assists in his debut against Slovakia and had a hat trick against Sweden, leading a plethora of hockey scouts to dub him "The Next One.”
McDavid spent three fabulous junior seasons with the Ontario Hockey League's Erie Otters, where he tallied 97 goals and 188 assists in 167 games.
