This double-sided banner, honoring Philadelphia Flyers legend and 1984 Hockey Hall of Fame inductee, #1 Bernie Parent, hung in the Wells Fargo Center rafters from 2012 to 2016.
During his time with the Philadelphia Flyers, Bernie Parent backstopped the team to two Stanley Cup Championships in 1974 and 1975. Parent also won the Conn Smythe and Vezina Trophies in both the 1973-74 and 1974-75 seasons. Parent played 608 games in goal in the National Hockey League for the Boston Bruins, Toronto Maple Leafs and the Flyers from 1966 to 1979. He went 271-198-121 with a 2.55 goals against average, a .915 save percentage with 55 shutouts, and 38-33 with a 2.43 goals against average, a .916 save percentage and six shutouts in 71 postseason games.
Parent’s #1 was retired by the Flyers on October 11, 1979.
